Today is the White Dew in China, the 15th solar term in the "Twenty-four solar terms", the third solar term in autumn, the end of the lunar calendar and the beginning of the unitary month. It is an important solar term that reflects the growth of cold in nature. As the cold air turns to attack, the sun is still hot in the daytime, but the temperature drops quickly after evening, and the temperature difference between day and night gradually widens.
By the time of White Dew, the summer monsoon was gradually replaced by the winter monsoon, and the cold air turned to attack. In addition, the sun's direct point moved southward, so the sunshine time in the northern hemisphere became shorter, the light intensity weakened, and the ground radiation dissipated quickly, so the temperature decreased gradually. The white dew basically ended the sweltering heat in summer, and the weather gradually turned cold, and the cold gave birth to dew condensation. The ancients used the four seasons to match the five elements. Autumn was golden, golden and white, and white was used to describe autumn dew, hence the name White Dew.
During the White Dew period, local folk customs mainly included offering sacrifices to Dayu, brewing grain wine and drinking White Dew tea.
